Ultraviolet: Nonsense...but Milla's cute

We went to the theater last night to see Ultraviolet.

My initial thoughts: seeing Milla Jovovich kick butt is always worth my $6.50. I don’t think the film will win any awards for thoughtful content, though. One of the recent spate of comic-book based films, Ultraviolet was a disjointed excuse for a lot of really cool special effects.

Hey Hollywood? If you want people to come back to the theaters in droves, try offering some fare that actually marries superior special effects with superior writing. Drop the causes du jour, fire the marketing guys who think that dazzling visuals are all that’s needed to please audiences, and remember the fact that all good theater starts with a good script.

A comic book may not be the best place to look for literary quality…just a thought.

Oh yeah…and put Milla in more films.
