They love us...they really love us

I think we may be in trouble.

We auditioned for eight or nine shows Saturday, and I think we’re going to get calls from most or even all of them. We actually got a call yesterday morning from the director of Enchanted April seeking to cast both Doc-wife and I as leads…and the director still had a full day of auditions remaining. The director of The Cemetery Club and Ragtime also showed strong interest in us.

See, we had intended to just try out for shows at the Ashtabula Arts Center. We did that (a relatively short and painless process) then stopped by the Rabbit Run Theater auditions later that afternoon to see some friends. We were browbeaten, guilt-tripped and duped into auditioning for the summer shows there, too (we have been very involved in this high quality theater since our return to Ohio three years ago.)

It’s nice to be wanted, but I’m just not very good at telling people “no.”

Another complication is the fact that the Ashtabula theater is running two weekends of auditions…so we’ll have to wait a week to begin weighing our decision. My daughter also tried out for Seussical the Musical at Ashtabula, and seemed to impress the powers that be.

So it looks like it will be a summer of driving to rehearsals, then the smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd.

It could be worse.
